I haven't seen the film (yet) but appreciate your sentiments here.

I remember when the press were still in love with Cheri Blair (a long time ago I know) and would applaud her super-human powers at juggling - I used to think then that whilst she did have a gruelling schedule even that was nothing compared to some of the women I know, who work as in unrewarding, unappreciated roles just keep one nostril above the tide of despair.

I read AK around birth of first child. BIG mistake, when temp went up after birth I was convinced I was dying of puerperal fever. I called her after Maud, the feisty heroine of Uncle Silas, which I read earlier in the pregnancy.

Absolutely. But, there's nothing fake about the glory...artificial trees are beautiful in their own way. :)

And a festoon of regal purple ribbon tying it all together sounds like your place will certainly exhibit a festive sparkle.

Enjoy!

Veronica, don't buy a tree with integral lights - I did 2 years ago. Last year when I put it up part of the lights were not working and you can't sort out where the fault is. Had to buy a new tree!!!!

Oooh, I share your dream. It's my ambition to have a larder too. Hopefully one day that will happen as I managed my other dream.... to own an AGA. I thought that dream was shattered when I emigrated to the US but managed to find one over here that now sits in my kitchen. It's not the traditional oil-burning one, more like a regular oven, but it has the AGA badge on it and so serves its purpose of giving me my little bit of England in this unfamiliar new home country,

Oh very nice. It all looks equally good for the writer's READERS, to wear whilst slouched on a couch devouring your latest offering.
